Donor Dialogue Partners with America’s Blood Centers to Offer Free Social Media Solution to Blood Centers
Auburn Hills, MI--April 1, 2009
America’s Blood Centers and Donor Dialogue have partnered to develop a Facebook application specifically designed to create value to both the blood donor and the blood center. The downloadable application is personalized for the blood donor and then localized to the blood center to generate donations and boost retention through an online community. This tool is offered free to all America’s Blood Centers’ members.
“Donor Dialogue is eager to launch this application to help bring awareness and create action to a cause that helps save lives every day.” stated Lauren Ziskie, Marketing Director at Donor Dialogue. “Our synergistic partnership with America’s Blood Centers will allow this application to be exclusive to all ABC members and will be a new way to target the next generation of donors while retaining the blood centers existing donor base.”
Social media websites, such as Facebook and MySpace, consist of over 120 million active users, with 250,000 new users signing up every day. These social media outlets are used to connect with friends, family, and businesses on a personal level. The average user has 120 "friends," and with social media technology it makes it easy for each user to instantaneously spread information to all their friends with a click of a button. More than 24 million pieces of content are shared each month with these friends (links, stories, pictures, applications) creating an even greater recruitment and retention opportunity for blood centers. Facebook is made up of profiles, applications, and pages, which can be used in different ways to highlight a blood center while targeting a blood donor to take action.
“In the past year, our members have become increasingly interested in online social networks and media to attract and retain donors,” said Matt Granato, Director of Marketing and Member Services for America’s Blood Centers. “Our partnership with Donor Dialogue allows us to provide a resource, for tapping into this new and growing market. This application will certainly benefit those who promote it among their donors."
