Partnership with Donor Dialogue Increases Show Rates While Decreasing Costs During Tough Economic Times

Auburn Hills, MI-- March 27, 2009
Kansas Community Blood Center announced a significant increase in their blood donor show rates by using Donor Dialogue’s telerecruitment services. "We decided to outsource our telerecruitment to Donor Dialogue six years ago because our in-house call center was not showing results. Appointments and collections were down and we knew we needed our recruitment efforts handled by an industry telerecruitment expert.” stated David Graham, Director of Donor Services at Community Blood Center (Kansas). “We heard Donor Dialogue was the best in delivering results so we gave them a try and couldn't be more pleased with the results."

Outsourcing telerecruitment has been a cause for concern for many blood centers. The primary concerns are that it would cost too much money and that the “personal touch” between the donor and the center just wouldn’t be there, but with a combination of new technology and solid decades of blood banking experience these concerns can now be diminished. Partnering with a company whose core competency is telerecruitment enables your blood center to increase its pledge efforts, call efficiency, and overall donor recruitment while lowering costs. This allows your staff to spend more of their valuable time on the critical and fundamental aspects of running a blood center.

“With about 80 percent of blood donations coming from company sponsored drives and just over 8% of the nation (and growing) unemployed, blood centers are taking a major hit.” states Pat Bezjak, President of Donor Dialogue. “As blood banks start to feel the effects of the falling economy it is becoming essential now more than ever to strategize new ways to boost center recruitment efforts while remaining cost effective. Implementing new ways to recruit donors into your center can be used to overcome the economic challenges. “

Operational costs are lowered by charging blood centers for donor shows and not donor appointments, which enables the blood centers to only pay for results. Blood centers can also request that donors are asked health history questions prior to being scheduled to insure donor eligibility. Donor Dialogue has assisted Kansas Community Blood Center in their telerecruitment of active, lapsed and first time donors. In a one year time span the cold calling efforts of Donor Dialogue has averaged a retention rate of 36.26% in first-time donors while illustrating a 16% increase in show rates for active donors and a 4% increase in show rates for lapsed donors between 2007 and 2008.
